The Presence of Christ21. December, 2011BlogComments OffDid your parents ever tell you that the true meaning of Christmas is not about the presents? If so they were wrong. Christmas is indeed “All about the Presents” — the “Presence of Christ.” For the greatest Gift ever given was Emmanuel – God With Us —- the presence of Christ. Although His coming was anticipated by many, the response to His arrival was as varied as the type of people He came to save. Join us Saturday, December 24th at 4:00 PM for our Christmas Eve Candle Light Service, where we will take a closer look at some of the “Reactions to the Birth (or presence) of Christ.” |
Holiday Update14. December, 2011BlogComments OffGood Morning.
We are 11 days from Christmas, where we will celebrate the greatest gift ever given, Jesus Christ. As we approach this last days before the Christmas holiday it is easy to lose sight of the baby in the manger in the midst of all that still needs to be done. It is good to pause for a moment and remember Christ’s words in Luke 10 to someone who was overtaken by all that there was to do. “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Yes there is plenty to get done, presents to wrap, cards to mail, meal to plan, and parties to attend; but in the midst of all of this don’t lose sight of what can never be taken away — Christ. Everything in the world will someday be fade, but Christ and His word remain forever. Time spend with Him is always a good investment. Over the next 10 days don’t get consumed by the good and neglect the better.
Over the next 11 days Amery Free has some wonderful opportunities to help us sit at the feet of Jesus. - Today, December 11th – 6:30 PM Christmas Coffee House – 7:00 PM Advent Celebration - Sunday December 18th – 10:15 AM Sunday School Christmas Program. - Saturday December 24th – 4:00 PM Candle Light Christmas Eve Service “Reaction to His Presence” - Sunday December 25th – 10:15 AM Christmas Day Worship “Something out of Nothing” |
