“When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus “ Matthew 1:24-25
We can forget in our celebration of Christmas that the first Christmas was far from easy for those in the Nativity. Mary, an unwed teenage girl, was asked to travel the path of motherhood. Joseph was asked to walk under the shame of marrying a woman who was already with child.
The shepherds abandoned their flocks to search for a baby in a busy town. The Magi from the East left their home guided only by a star and a few parchments. How many of us would take those journeys today?
The work that God calls us to do is not always pleasant and not always easy. But as you follow in faith what His Word commands and where His spirit leads, it will bring you great joy as it did to all the characters of the Nativity.
