“’For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’” declares the Lord. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.’” Isaiah 55:8-9
Peasant parents from the backwaters of Israel — I hardly believe anyone imagined the Messiah would come like this. To Mary, Joseph, the Magi, or any Jew, this scenario never crossed their minds. God’s way, will, and plan is not ours and they do not usually make sense to us either.
When things seem hopeless or out of control, we can remember that God is still King over all. We may not see how current circumstances weave into God’s plan, but we can fully trust that His Spirit is working through every confusing turn. His ways are not ours.
