“He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came so that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.” John 1:10-11
We read that Jesus came to His own people to redeem and save them, yet they did not recognize Him as their Savior King. They rejected the very one they waited for. This happened not long after Christ’s birth in the person of King Herod as his deception, hatred, and attempted murder of Christ is recorded in Matthew chapter 2.
As we remember and celebrate the birth of Jesus are we like King Herod, living a life of deception and rejecting the words and ways of Christ? Or are we like the Magi, humbly falling to our knees before our Savior King?
