A table set with a ham and all the trimmings. A tree adorned with bulbs and sparkling lights. A pile of brightly wrapped packages. A merry hello from visiting relatives. Why does Christmas matter?
Why does Christmas matter? Why do we celebrate on December 25th? How would you, or do you, answer these questions? Because it’s Jesus’s birthday, right? Not exactly.
We don’t know the date of Christ’s birth — but, we can be nearly certain He was not born on December 25th. But within the Christmas Narrative there are essential Bible doctrines or truths about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, man, salvation, good works, the Bible, and the origin and final destination of all things.
Throughout the Advent season let’s join Mary in discovering and treasuring these things in our heart. Take a few moments asking Christ to open your eyes this season to the marvelous truths woven within.
